Design Pattern Solutions, Inc. has extensive expertise in the implementation, extension, and support of the Digium Asterisk and LibPRI open source projects. During the 2005-2006 time period, Dwayne Hubbard was employed by Intel Corporation and was tasked with integrating over 23 different Intel Dialogic NetStructure products into Asterisk for use with chan_dialogic channel driver which was to be packaged with Digium's Asterisk Business Edition (ABE). This work led to employment with Digium as Commercial Software Team Leader and Asterisk Business Edition contact point for ABE. During employment with Digium, Dwayne Hubbard authored the core TaskProcessor module development heavily used in Asterisk since 1.6+ as well as the original res_fax and res_fax_digium FAX modules.
Design Pattern Solutions has contributed modifications to open source Asterisk and LibPRI for the addition of PRI SERVICE message support for the '4ESS','5ESS', and 'National' switchtypes enabling users to enable and/or disable PRI channels and/or spans via the Asterisk command-line interface (CLI).
Design Pattern Solutions has extended Asterisk and LibPRI for private use as well, for example the addition of Multi-Level Precedence and Preemption (MLPP) functionality to Asterisk 1.8 (not available in open source) and LibPRI which was certified by the Department of Defense. Support for the addition of Information Elements for ATIS 1000619_1992 and 1000619.a.1994 was added as well as the ability to generate proper DISCONNECT cause codes, the proper use of caller precedence and call pre-emption including service domain and network identification.
Design Pattern Solutions is responsible for the development of Public Safety qualify Telecommunications Device for the Deaf/TeleTYpewriter functionality additions to Asterisk which is currently used in many 9-1-1 Public Safety Answer Points (PSAP) across the United States. This extension is not available in the open source Asterisk tree.
In addition to the examples above, Design Pattern Solutions has extended Asterisk and related projects (LibPRI, Asterisk-Java, JOCF, etc.) in many ways for customers large and small.
